Like everyone else, my thoughts are with the victims of the attack on New York. It's exactly a year since I visited the city for the first and only time. I love New York. I have many friends there. The attack shocked me deeply. The outpouring of emotion on this list has moved me greatly. However, the occassional expressions of nationalistic hatred have sickened me. "WAR TO THOSE WHO FUCK WITH AMERICA" ??? This is the identical type of hatred that caused this attack. A few nationalistic fanatics murdered innocents as a symbolic act of war. If the USA launches a military attack on any other part of the world, it will be just as sick and absurd - a small group purporting to represent America will murder poor innocents as a symbolic blow against "terrorism." Yet those who employ violence for political ends are all terrorists. God does not smile on anyone who murders, even in a so-called "act of war." The Bible says "Thou shalt not kill." It does *not* say "Thou shalt not kill, unless thou has a good reason to kill." The attack was a crime against humanity. Like any other crime, the purpetrators (in this case those who ordered this horrific act), should be arrested, tried, and imprisoned. This is justice. A vengeful military assault will only lead to violence against innocent people spiralling out of control, worldwide. It was hate-filled vengence that caused this thing to happen anyway, remember? Peace be with you all. -nj (dublin, ireland) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
